3 Things to Know Before Moving into Quantico Military Housing

  |     |   Uncategorized

Quantico Military Housing is a great place to call home! However, just like any other place where you’re looking to settle down, it is important to have all your information. Here are three things to know before you move in:

1.On Base vs. Off Base

It is crucial to understand that, on base and off base are two very different things. If you are not a student, it is nearly impossible to get on base housing. Unfortunately, there is a VERY long waiting list, so you should probably plan on renting off base. When living off base it is important to keep one thing in mind. COMMUTE! Make sure to research your commute before putting down your roots. Quick Tip: Stafford and Woodbridge, are the way to go! If you are a student, you are in luck! As far as neighborhoods go, there are 7 different options. And each neighborhood has a different floor plan to meet your criteria!  If possible, complete your housing application in advance, and be prepared to send it in as soon as applications will be accepted.

2.Child Care Programs

It goes without saying, that family always comes first. So when moving anywhere new, it is always nice to know your available options, when it comes to schools and daycares. There are a variety of options in the area, but three options stand out. The Childcare Development Center, offers part-time, full-time, or hourly care for children 6 weeks – 5 years old. Open 6am-6pm, CDC is like a second home. The School Age Care Program is for children 5 years of age – 12 years old, and open 6:30am-8:30am, as well as after school 2:30pm-6pm. The Quantico Youth Center, also known as the boys and girls club, is outstanding. Available for children 6-18 years old, the boys and girls club is a great way to keep your children active! Offering a variety of things to do, such as sports, arts and crafts, and other special events.

3. Location

You may not realize it, but Quantico is actually a public city within the base. And since safety always comes first, it is important to know, that those beyond the military do have public access to the area. Commuter trains will be going in and out of the area as well!

Overall, Quantico is a truly amazing place to live. With so much to do, incredible charm, and a ton of history, moving is only a small step, before leading an amazing life inside Quantico Military Housing.
