1. A great way to improve your place is to make it feel more like home. When anyone walks into your apartment, whether it be a friend or someone you’ve never met, your place should feel like your own. Adding things you love to the main living space is a great way to do so! Are you obsessed with a certain shape, color, or animal? Perfect! Go to any local flea market or home store and find decorative items, such a throw pillows, or art to put on the walls. These small special touches will definitely make your new apartment, more homey, and most importantly more you!

2. Use your space wisely! One of the most important parts of decorating your apartment is figuring out the perfect way to arrange your belongings. Whether your place is a bit on the smaller side or super spacious, there is always a nice way to use your space. If your horizontal space is tight, make sure to utilize the vertical space to the best of your ability. Helpful hint: if your apartment is small, think about purchasing bed risers or over the door storage. It’s truly amazing what a difference, small items like that can make! We often forget just because something does fit one way, doesn’t mean it won’t look great somewhere else. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box!

3. One of my all time favorite ways to improve any home, is lighting! I truly believe, that lighting can change an entire room, even an entire apartment. The best part is, there are numerous ways to go about this, and you don’t have to break the bank! When lighting up a room, it is critical that each room, has at least three sources of light. Not to say they should all be on at one time, but providing a big overhead light, as well as a table lamp, and even some decorative smaller sources will do a room justice. Truly lifechanging!

4. Clean your apartment and clean it often! I’m not talking about the windows or the countertops, I’m talking about the clutter. Transforming your space into a clutter free zone, will not only allow for more space, but it will clear your mind. It may sound petty, but something as small as this, can improve your apartment tremendously. We all like to hold onto things, but I promise it feels so good to let go! So grab that box, and get going!

Are you moving into a new apartment? Looking for some exciting new ways to improve your space?
