\n\tStafford, VA is located directly off of I-95, and is located about 10 miles north of Fredricksburg, 40 miles south of D.C., and 60 miles north of Richmond. Marine Corps Base Quantico is located just outside of Stafford, and a short 12 miles from Ultris Courthouse Square. The town is near a variety of municipal and state parks, all offering outdoor activities. Stafford has its own riverside beach, and is also located within a two hour drive of other beaches. We’ve compiled a guide for you to three of the nearby beaches. Check it out!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n\t\t\tAquia Landing Park: Open year round, Aquia Landing provides nearly a quarter-mile of recreational beach, directly on the Potomac River. Located only 15 miles from Ultris Courthouse Square, Aquia Landing is easily accessible. There are a variety of different activities available besides swimming, including, fishing, volleyball, a recreation field for pickup sports games, concessions and pavilions, which are available for rent. The Park also provides free parking and a public beach, giving you less reason not to go! The park is open daily from 8AM to 8PM. Gather your troops now!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n \n\t\t\tColonial Beach: Located on the Potomac River, Colonial beach is the vacation destination for those coming from near or far. Come for a short day and enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, sunning and funning. Other attractions include art galleries in the area featuring local artists, ceramics, photography and fine art pieces. If you are staying for longer than a day, there are cottages available for rent, as well as motel rooms. The Dockside and Blue Heron Pub is a great local eatery, located within walking distance of the small town, as well as the marina. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n \n\t\t\tFlag Ponds Nature Park: While Flag Ponds is a further drive than the previous two destinations, the Maryland park is the closest public beach with swimming on saltwater. Flag Ponds is a significant part of Maryland’s history, having housed fishermen in three shanties from the early 1900s until 1955. Activities include beachcombing for shark teeth and other Miocene fossils, birdwatching, fossil hunting, scuba diving and swimming.
